Communism

ABSTRACT

Communism is a government system which creates a classless society, abolishing the power of the ruling class and creating despotism of the working class, also known as the proletariat. Communism entertains common ownership, wherein, the state and money do not exist. According to Communism, to work or not to work is not mandatory and solely depends on an individual. In 1848, Karl Marx, father of Communism, introduced a book on The Communist Manifest. Many people liked Marx’s idea of Communism. The main idea of this book is social democracy which leads to the initiation of workers’ society, where workers in different countries have common interests among themselves. They are classless and have common ownership. According to Marx, Communism is a social system collectively owned by classless society and not by individual citizens. This essay on Communism clearly illustrates egalitarianism for all, regardless of any factors and works towards a common goal, thus structuring a perfect society.

My main understanding of Communism is that it advocates and associates with non-private ownership, organized labor enabling common benefits, maintaining a principle that work should be based on individual capacity, and receiving benefits according to individual needs. It is a political ideal that stresses egalitarianism for all, regardless of any factor and works towards a common goal for the progress of the state. Even though history has revealed that communist countries have used fierce tactics, Karl Marx, the father of Communism succeeded in structuring a perfect society, as described in his Communist Manifesto.

Karl Marx’s perfect society described in his Communist Manifesto is in direct conflict with the execution of Soviet Communism, which was contemptuously critiqued by George Orwell’s book Animal Farm. Karl Marx assumed that in order to obtain equality in society, the waged people would have to rebel those who enjoyed ownership of production. This led to the beginning of Proletariat Revolution where the harassed laborers in entrepreneurial societies, such as England, united under a common cause and rebelled against the oppressive bourgeoisie, thus establishing a communist society. The result would be a society considering every individual as equal, performing to his ability, and receiving according to his needs. To enable this, authoritarianism would be necessary to get the ball rolling, but would eventually give up power out of will, as it would be redundant. Needless to say, this was never destined to be. The rise of the Soviet Union was evidence to this, vividly illustrated and condemned by George Orwell.

Overall, communism is associated with restricted personal self-sufficiencies, system control, and a constabulary state that confines civil liberties. Although it is true that communism has been tried and failed, this is more so because of the individual or group trying to institute and adopt the methods they have used. Even though history has shown that communist countries have used brutal tactics, communism at its core is not about cruelty or denial, it is simply a political ideal that emphasizes egalitarianism for all, regardless of any factor should have more or less than anyone else.
